here we go again...while i dont consider my 1200 to be a beginer bike....size wise it is a small harley...a 250 honda rebel or a suzuki savage 650 is a beginer bike....i love the posts where some one asks what harley they should by for their first bike and people tell themto buy soft tails and road kings....yeah 18 grand on his first bike? now thats a joke. if you think owning a bigger and more expensive bike makes you more of a man theni dont know what to say,,,,you can get in trouble on any size machine and idiots get killed every day on mopeds. i bought my 1200 because its what i wanted and i dont understand why people come on here to try and justify owning a sportster,,,if your really questioning your bikes ability then maybee you should stick to your car...or f350 pickup
Who and what the hell are you replying too? I said in an earlier post that a sportster is not a beginner bike, just easier to ride compared to a baggercause it is lighter and more nimble. Your the only one hear justifying owning a sportser.

yeah I would say a baggers is easy to ride as a sporty or easier. Its better balanced by far. but if you were to drop it it would be harder to lift by yourself
as for starter bike the sporty is the cheapest harley= entry level bike. Thats what starter bike means, not beginners bike

A bagger isn't any more difficult to ride than a sportster hence starter bike means nothing.
Are you kidding me?? Nothing against sportsters....but are you kidding me? You don't think an 850lb Ultra is more difficult to control especially at slower speeds then a Sportser? You don't think a Sportster is more nimble and easier through turns than a touring bike? I AM NOT CALLIING A SPORTSTER A STARTER BIKE SO LETS NOT GET INTO THAT BS. You just can't be serious. this

I wouldn't choose either of my bikes to teach a beginner on. I started on a 500cc Virago, and still managed to hurt myself.

One word replies should be spelled correctly, JMHO

As far as it being ridiculous, I have rode EVERY bike in the HD linup and some a lot more than others.I have thousands of miles on a heritage and almost as many on a ultra. I can turn a bagger on a dime. Its one of the best balanced bikes in the world IMO. A sporty is a fairly top heavy bike as far as a HD goes. Why do you think so many women pick the ultras classics?? Its because they are easier to ride...

Could not agree more!!!
In the stable we have a Dyna SG and my Sportster. For SLOW AND TIGHT(1 lane or less) manuvers.. I would bet(and have performed) on the SuperGlide. No, not a bagger- just agreeing with X2 that the Sportster is not the easiest rider out there.
Also, I have put many a mile on a Heritage... nice bike.......... and easy handling.

And why do you think that the sportster is the number one choice bike for females and new riders? How many new riders go for a bagger right outta the gate? How many for Sportsters. How many times in this Sportserforum do you hear " I just bought my first Harley". How many times you read that in the touring forum? Lets be honest and not so fricken defensive.
