How'd I do? / Stupid question
Been watching eBay for some Progressive shocks - preferably 12.5" to put on my XL1200C. Found this auction this afternoon and after checking with Progressive support to verify the part number would fit, I purchased a set of 412-4006C shocks for $70, shipping included. I think I did rather well considering the street price is $279. What do you think?

RE: How'd I do?
Not bad at all! I watch ebay like a hobby, When you see those adds on tv that say shop VICTORIOUSLY........ Well lets say I do Got a factory alarm for my 1200N for 50 bucks shipped!! I didn't even want an alarm I just couldn't pass it up. My insurance went down more than 50 bucks this year for having installed it. what my insurance company don't know is that the alarm don't operate properly due to me not knowing how to program it, but hell it's in there!!

RE: How'd I do?
My 'new' shocks are about to be delivered tomorrow, so I'll throw outa stupid question. What is the easiest way tochangethem out? I don't have a bike jack and the shed the bike's parked in has an uneven floor. I realize I might have to wait until this sh*&^y weather clears up a bit so I can get to a hard flat surface, but I'm looking for suggestions to make it as easy as possible. Thanks for any suggestions.

RE: How'd I do?
Got the shocks yesterday and unfortunately they're a bit more worn than I anticipated. The black ends were a little bit rusted so I sprayed them with some gloss black tonight. The chrome 'shields' are worn and scraped in quite a few places also. I tried to buff the chrome a bit on a polishing wheel at work and they cleaned up a little bit. I'm hoping I can rotate the worn areas toward the inside when installed so they don't show so much. If they are too worn what are my options as far as refinishing orcleaning upthe chrome? Can I paint the chromeblack and if so what type of paint should I use?? If that isn't an option could the ends be powder coated or re-chromed? Would it be worth a refinish or would I be better off purchasing a set in better condition? Thanks!!!!

Best bet is to just turn the "shields" to get the best appearance. They turn easily. Refinishing would be as costly as new, I suspect. New 412's can be purchased from Eastern Performance for around $180 with free delivery.
