RE: Here is my 57 Sporty...
This is an all stock 1957. Yours doesnt match quite so perfectly. The tank is off a different year. The first runs of the sportys didn't have the peanut tank. also look at the primary cover, totally different, your rear fender has also been chopped. different shocks and different oil can. different front fender and seat.
with all these mods its hard to say if it is a '57.... my personal opinion is that you should restore it to a stock look. having a classic like that in this condition is a bit a of a shame, thats just me, dont let that bother you.
hopefully the picture i posted and the info i listed helps

RE: Here is my 57 Sporty...
Heres a run down of my casting numbers.
Cylinder Housings Match; 6561-57
Engine Block; 67XL 1301
Frame Stamps; U58 (neck); 7584-56 (where upper and lower sections of frame connect)
Rear of Frame Behind Kickstart Spring; 47850 (what looks to be a question mark above the letter A) 5
Origional Case Half (Cracked so not installed); 57XL 2931; 24534-57
Origional Case Section (For Shifter, also Cracked); 3487-52
My Dad also informed me that those are the origional shocks, and the engine is an 883 (Its been bored to 900 though). This Sportster is supposed to be a 1957 Sportster XLCH. The picture that Joseph posted is of an XL883.
I will post pictures of these components when my internet connection is a little stronger.
