i'm looking at a 2003 883 custom annivesery blue metalic paint with almost 1400 miles
is there any common problems i should look for?
it felt strongs. is it reliabal?
$3800.00 is that a fair price?
it has forward controls and the stock seat sucks.

thanks folks . i looked at it today but i dont know what to look for as such of problems.
the seat has a couple picks in it but as stated it sucks.
right grip has a slight blem.
but paint,chrome,levers,lights,mirrors unscratched.
what should i look for mech.?

 

with only 1400 miles it is practically new. You can resell it for more buy it before it is gone. I am looking for what you have found, I would by it at that price even if the tank was dented and it looked abused. "He who hesitates is lost.."

yup good deal, it has kelly retail of 5200. Lots of things you can look for on a used bike...Look for oil leaks, look under the fender for rubber spots(means its been doing burnouts) shake the front end up and down a few times the check the fork seals and see if they are leaking oil, check the ends of the grips and levers for scuffs (droppage) tires, brakes, lights should be equally bright, service logs... for starters. If the bikes only got 1400 miles it should be in good shape... I would jump on it. 883s are good bikes.

 

Where are you buying it from? You sound a little hesitant. If your worried take it to a dealer and have them check it over, and if someone has a problem with that I would ask more questions.
