That sounds like a very good price, especially if the bike is in excellent condition.
I checked the NADA book value, as NADA adjusts their prices frequently and most of the banks and other loan institutions around here use their values for determining 'fair market values'.
NADA shows a 'low retail' of $3,500, and a 'average retail' of $4,605 for the 2003 883 C's..

Best price I saw on an 883 was a Red 2006 883C with 1,000 miles for $5K. Now that was a steal. I ended up with a 1200C.
But anyways, 2003 was the last year of the rigid-mount engine, so if you're cool with that, go for it. It is a great price and a lot of fellas on the forum ride '03s and love 'em.
