sweet thanks bhtx... how high does the seat lift you? It looks like it sits you further back away from the tank and not closer, which is what I want.

OK, Brian, now that looks pretty decent! We're all gonna have to get together again and do a few runs! Ya up for it?

Djstorm100...I think you just found a direction to go. Two up seat and mini rail with pad doesn't look so bad after all! And with a quick detach setup, you can remove it in seconds, then replace the solo seat in a few seconds more.

Where do you put the canoe?

I was thinking of lashing the trekking poles to the handlebars and putting the front part of the canoe thereso it will suspend above the windshield. Thenrest the back end of it on the pack and lash it down! Presto! Protection from the sun AND the rain! A canoe certainly would have come inhandy the last day we rode together....of course you were home and dry by thetime we got to the really bad stuff! Gawd! I have NEVER been through so much so much water on a bike! And it's not often I'm caught in a storm that bad in a damn cage, either! Hope to make another run up there to Mount Scott with you soon!

Yea, I wonder if adding just the pillow will cause the paint to rub or get sratched on the fender. I would hate to take the seat off and paint be all messed up due to the 2 up seat or pillion.

Maybe you can cut out a piece of mouse pad and put under the contact points? Or something durable and thin that likely won't scratch the paint? I have a cheap Walmart mousepad between my fender and saddlebags to help protect the paint. However, I haven't taken it off yet, so I don't know how well it's doing. Some kind of thin padding would be in order, I think....

I can see adding some progressive springs
as long as they don't mess with the ride height.
But, a two up saddle, windshield, and saddle bags just don't
belong on the Nightster.

Sure this is just my opinion and I fully support the customization of
one's machine, but, (and this is the truth that hurts part) the Nightster looks
ridiculous with the above mentioned mods.

It seems people buy the Nightster because they love it's bada$$ looks, but then
think, well how do I make this bike functional and comfy and proceed to destroy
the aforementioned bada$$ looks with double saddles and windshields.
Why not just quit fooling yourselves and buy the bike that fits your needs and not
the one that looks cool until you get done transforming it into what you really needed
in the first place.

Sorry to sound like a d!ck, just save the trouble and buy a bike that fits your needs, then
customize it to look cool, not the other way around.
I think in the end you'll be happier.

I couldn't have said it better myself. It's like buying a Corvette because you like the looks of the car, but then want to attempt to install a snowplow on it because you need something to plow your driveway with in the wintertime. WTF!!??

Hey EN4sir98 how do you like the black 11" progressives? Would you recommend them? Thanks.

Although I'm 5'10" and 165lbs, I decided to install a pair of Progressive 412's for two reasons. 1), I was hoping to soften the ride up a bit, and 2) I liked the idea of having black shocks on the bike. I stayed with the stock length (11 inch) as I didn't want to raise the rear end. The 11 inch Progressives softened-up the ride a little without raising the rear. IMO it was money well spent.
