Thanks for the input, guys! OK, so I should be able to get a black custom out-the-door for 9.5K? I live in Florida-plenty of dealers in my area [Sarasota County].

I didn't think I'd be able to get a discount on a Sportster...

while my salesman didnt recomend another bike....he saw me going in weekly to look at the "r" he did tell me most sportster buyers trade them in within 8 months....i told him i wouldnt be doing that because my manhood is plenty big enough to ride a sportster and i dont need the larger bike to make me more of a man...im 5 11 and 240 pounds...hauls me around fine and its still quick. buy the bike you want,,,,not the one your freinds think you should get....its too bad harleys are looked at as an image instead of a motorcyle these days,i bought the 1200 because i liked everything about it and i didnt care what i looked like riding it...

Keep in mind as a taller guy you could try sitting on the 1200 Roadster. It's going to have more height to it which might be better. Then you would certainly want to put forward controls on it at which point it would be like a taller custom.

Just something to consider. Buy the bike that feels right to you, the dealer was telling me the same thing and kept pushing me to get a 1200 instead of an 883. The fact it's a couple thousand more certainly helps them.

Seem to me a man at 6'5" and 225 should be able to tell someone what he wants in no uncertain terms... Dont get depressed, get mad! Come down here and we will go to the dealer together and I will whump thier asses for ewe We will get you a bike dude... Cheer up! [sm=boink3.gif][sm=bounceybounce.gif]

OK, I'm 6'5" and 225 Lbs. I really like and want an XL1200C, but everywhere I go, people say it's "not enough bike for you", "Step up to a Dyna", etc. I'm very comfortable and confident on it [I've owned bikes before]. I can't find anyone who will sell me what I want-a black Custom. What to do? Any and all input is welcome.

BTW-I'm new here...

Take a ride over to Crystal River Harley, I'll bet they will work with you on a deal.
