Default What tire and size you guys running?

I've got an 06 sportster and it still has the original tire on it.I was curious what kind of tires you guys are running and what size. Didn't know if and how much I could bump the width up on it. Also, my bike is in storage right now so I can't see tire size. What is the stock tire size on the sporty? Thanks

I'm running an Avon venom-x 90/90 21" on the front and will be replacing my rear with Avon venom-x 150/80 16. If you run Metzlers in the rear I think you can get by with a 160/80 16 but I hear its a bit taller and can rub with short shocks or when under heavy load.
I can tell you from my experience with Avon is that they run a bit wider/taller for sure on the metric measurements (my front for example is almost 1/4" taller and 3/16" wider than same size stock dunlop. Avon is pricey but very sticky in the corners and smooth riding. Metzlers ME880s are also very popular.

I peeled off the crap DoFlops at 400 miles and replaced them with same-sized Pirelli Sport Demons. So far, so good. They grip *WAY* better. But, alas, they're still bias play tires and therefore still provide a crappy experience (compared to good radials - I've been spoiled by quality handling sport and sport-touring bikes over the last decade or so)

Next I think I'm going to try the Avon Azaro ST Radials when these Pirellis wear out.

I've run stock. They do good enough, I don't grind pegs off but do ride aggressive. Recently the stealership ran out of dunlop & I am doing one of the HD Michelin in the front. It is about the same as a stock dunlop but makes more noise in corners.

PS... sorry, missed the point you were looking for sizes. Here's the stockers for the ones with 16/19"

100/90-19 57H - Front
150/80B16 71H - Rear

I just stick to the stock size and dunlops. They work and are cheapish.

stil have a couple k to go on the stock dunlop front (1200C), I did replace the rear with Metzler ME 160/80 16. Seems to stick much better, the tread design keeps the bike more comfortable in groved pavement also.

04 and up ??? wont fit 08's as axle is different and it also doesnt appear to include pulleys as they will need to be offset if you want to track straight.

You can get a Wild Bill kit for under $900 with pulleys and it will track true.

I am running the Avon Venom X for a 21 up front and the 160 rear (don't remember the exact specs but it's the only 160 for a 16 inch rim). Great tires! Bike sticks much better, the wear is better than the stock dunlops so far and I think the 160 fills out the back beautifuly on the sporty. Mine is on a 2005 Spotry 1200C and there have been no rubbing issues with the rear whatsoever and I weigh in at 200 and I ride 2 up all the time as well.
