Welcome from a fellow S owner. Did you get your bike in stock form, or has anything been done to it? After you ride it for a bit (if it's stock) make sure to toss on a nice 2-1 exhaust, and a good A/C...get some good flow going, and then pop in a SE ignition module to bump up the rev limiter :-)
Thanks!

It came to me with a 2-1 thunderheader and an SE air intake. I had the pipes thermal rapped (turned out great). Here are the other things I’ve done: Mini backrest, tank bra, smoked turn signal lens, SE plug wires (red), o-ring foot pegs fore and aft, handlebar mounted clock, new fuel tank cap, head bolt covers, enricher handle cover, removed the front fork reflectors, red reflectors for the frame, tender line, and I’m about to replace all of the vacuum hoses. How can I find out if the rev limiter mod has been done already?

Hello all. New to the forum and new to the bike. Just got a 2001 XL1200S. I'm having a blast when it gets to be 40 or above around here (Dayton, OH). Otherwise, I'm spending time working on small customization projects. Fun also. I was wondering--why is the 1200S model missing from the forum header?
Wow! That was quick. I see the "S" has made it into the forum header. Now I feel completed. Ha!

Welcome from Minneapolis, where there are folks who won't get to ride until WAY after you hit the road.

1: Start bike
2: Bring bike on open road
3: Let her rip and as you're going through the gears see if you hit the limiter @ the stock ~5200, or if you go up to 6800, or 7500 :-)

Fun test if you ask me!

It is customary for S owners to part out their bikes and ship each member here in the sportster forums a free part from your bike. Welcome!! I'll take your heads...
