Default Lowering sportster front,, question...

Just wondering if anyone has lowered the front of an 05ish sportster by loosening the front fork clamps and sliding the tubes up.. Any reason not to do this??? A buddy of mine did this and I want to know if he's gonna have any problem.. Thanks!
