Default Is it worth joining local chapter?

Ok, so when I purchased my bike I got a free HOG membership- haven't received my goody bag in the mail yet but am waiting... I was told once I get my membership # I can sign up and join the local chapter. Do they do a lot of rides? Long ones, short ones? I've been putting on about 10k a year since I first started riding 4 years ago, so everything in the near vacinity to me is boring, and I'm having difficulties finding people to ride with.

Depends on where you live and the chapter. The one I belong to has a mix of short, medium and multi-day rides.

Update your profile so your location shows under your avatar for future reference.

I'm contemplating the same thing, just hope all of them aren't in their 50's with leather vests and tons of flare.

Hahaha, thats what I was thinkin. But then again, I could care less. I'm looking for medium to long (couple day) rides every weekend. I'm sure there has to be a couple youngins in the crowd.

Click on Profile at the top of the page. On your Profile page scroll down to the line that says "From:" and enter your City, St.
It will then show up under your avatar.

You will have to join to be able to decide for yourself. Some chapters are great and some aren't. What works for me might not be the same for you.

Don't know about where you are in Illinois-who is your local dealer? I know the chapter down here seems to specialize in short rides to the ice cream shop. No kidding.

Brutal! I'm north of Chicago- my dealer would have been 5 miles away in Libertyville, but they screwed me over so I drive 25 miles out of my way to McHenry IL. It's way out in the boonies, and there is really good home made chocolate store right across the street from the dealer- hopefully that's not considered one of there main rides...
