Is it worth joining local chapter?

RE: Is it worth joining local chapter?
I always feel vulnrable riding alone, and like to have two or three with me... easier to be seen by the cagers. Belong to the local (almost) HOG chapter and it's a big one. They have rides and activities all summer. Typical of most clubs, they have cliques, but for the most part they're OK. I just find I don't really enjoy riding in packs of 30 or more.
Also belong to the local ABATE chapter. A lot more fun to be with; friendly and no attitudes. I joined it years ago when I was riding a Virago 750 (most everbody else on Harleys). Nobody ever talked down what you ride, and they do what they can to keep the politicos from legislating us off our bikes. But they do party hard!

Here's a thought.... I'm not active in the local HOG chapter but I have a HOG membership for the 10% parts discount at the local dealer, and for the towing coverage (hopefully never need it).
And, to offset the cost of membership, I sold the patch and pin set that came in the member packet for $22.50 on Ebay. So, my net cost for membership was only $22.50. Not bad for a year of discounts and towing!
