Anyone have a bad ignition in 07-08 Nightster/Sporty?
On Sunday, tried to fire-up my girlfriend's 08 Nightster. Nothing. Turn the key anthe odometer illumintaes and that's it, no headlights, oil pressure lights or anything. Battery is topped off and on a Tender.Checked the fuses and connections, etc., no sign of a bad one. Call the dealer yesterday and the haul back to the shop. An update yesterday is that it is either the ignition/key switch (barrel switch I think it's called) or the ECM.
Anyone have a similar issue and if so what was the fix?
Thanks

I keep mine on a tender also but when it is very cold the battery still doesn't have enough juice to fire the injectors. All the lights and everything work. The bike will even crank over but no fire because the fuel was not delivered. On a warmer day it will fire right up. Nasty

the ECM will still work the lights and stuff, that bologna. Could be the switch or the batt tho.

Dealer just updated me: Looks like the ignition switch. I thought it turned a little tough since day 1 and the keys does not like to come out that easily either. Should be done by days end tomorrow at the latest. Can't go to Daytona without it!

Service manager just called. It was a bad ignition switch. Had one in-stock, same key code, too! Imagine! She's all done and covered under warranty! SWEET! Kudos to the service manager on this one. I'm sending a nice letter to the dealership praising the guy. He went the extra mile to get the bike done for the trip.

I know I'm bringing up the dead here but I had to take mine into the dealer on Sunday for this exact same problem, add to that it cut out on me about 3 times doing 65mph+ = NOT GOOD!
On the positive side, the problem did not "disappear" once I got to the dealer, it did it infront of the service writer so I have proof! Usually they can't "replicate the issue"
I hope I get it back soon, the garage feels empty without it there
