Default Raised shift linkage like Dyna??

I am extending the forward controls (using nevets61 plan) I am considering modifying the shift linkage to resemble the Dyna which has the shift arm up instead of down. Has anyone done this. Sort of like the photoshopped example below.

Not certain I like that zink link in front of of my chrome cover, and it blocks the chain window. Other than that 6 of a kind vs a half dozen I guess.

That's how mine used to be...it works fine. I had Hardbody controls and because of how the linkage connected I had to run linkage like that.

This is my old setup:

I agree, the linkage should be chromed, I guess I would have to take off the shift arm to check the primary chain adj. Overall I think it would look better not having the forward shift lever sticking down in front of everythng else.

6066, Thanks for the pic, very much what I am talking about - I will see if they have '04+ compatable shift control.

Well, HD does have a limited selection of chrome custom linkages, none are my style, and so for, cant find any aftermarkets for the sportsters. If the length doesnt change, and you like the HD style, it would put the little mod front and center.

You can also use softail, dyna, or any other links...they have different sizes...along with the end connectors that thread on in various lengths as well.
