looking at bike/ need opinions
Hi, i just signed up about a min ago and needed some honest opinions from people i figure know a little somehtin somethin about these bikes
I've been looking for a bike latley and have been going between a Shadow and Sportster. Well here what i found, tell me what you think
1993 13,388 miles 883
besides that it has new tires and handlebars, seat and controls...
what do yall think this bike is worth, along with some odds and ends (origional equip, repair book, battery tender etc)
The guy is asking 3800 for it? should i grab the bike and manual and try to talk him down, what do yall think?
As far as the shape it's in, Mechanically, you couldn't ask for a better bike
but cosmetically, it need alot of TLC.
ex... the battery exploded (looks like) and oxidized under neath on the alum. cover.
there are various other things, baasically the bike needs a good overhall in the cleaning department

RE: looking at bike/ need opinions
nope. i paid $4k for my pristine 96 with 16k miles on it last April. (see below). Mine is an original 1200.
If it looks nasty cosmetically, cut the price in half... or better yet, find another one. There are too many bikes on ebay and craiglist that are much nicer for the same money, even 1200s...

I'd offer him $3k for it.I think $3,800 is alittle high.It all depends on what year Sporty you like.(Personally, I prefer older ones with carbs and chain drive) If your open to a newer one,for a little extra money you can get a much later model.I'm seeing late '90's and even early '00's going in the $4k-$41/2K range.
I missed the part about the TLC being needed................no more than $2,500.There are too many deals onbikes out there right now

well, i might have over exagerated on the tlc, it just needs a good cleaning/ polishing... i was just surprised the bike wasn't clean seeing he IS trying to sell it.
other than that, yall still say pass? its the best price vs mile/yr ive found yet. everything else is mucho grande in the price dept.

Hey man, I payed 5800 for an '03 883 with two tone anniversary paint that only had 4K miles on it. Dont sound like a bad deal, offer him 3 for it and see where it goes, provided it is in good running order. If it just needs a cleaning, it could be worth the money.
