Sportster dual disc brake upgrade - parts list
#22
I would like to correct you when you say the sportster 07 model is the only one with dual front brakes as I own a 2002 883R witch is a Flat Track Model. This bike comes factory equipment with silver Dual front Brakes. When on the track a single brake
The '07 XL 883 Roadster is the only 883 version of the Sportster (in '07) to come with dual disc brakes, and the parts are black. The '07 & '08 XL 1200 Roadster is the only 1200 to come with dual disc and the parts are silver. There is no mechanical difference in the parts between the 883 and the 1200 versions; in this case ONLY the color is different. Il'll provide you part numbers for the Black version since the bike in question was getting done in black. I'll make the assumption you'll be ordering and replacing all applicable parts. You can pare down the list as necessary.
I hope this helps someone out.
right fork slider - 46449-08
left fork slider - 46450-08
right caliper - 42877-07
left caliper - 42897-07
right brake disc - 44136-00
dual brake hose - 45319-04A
master cylinder - 45052-07
oil seals - (2x) 45378-87
brake line guide/clip - 45074-95
Note: There are small parts, bolts, crush washers, etc., that you can hunt down. You may or may not need new oil seals. Just grab them locally. They're cheap.
*EDIT* - please note, this is known to apply to 883s and 1200s with cast wheels. Machines with laced wheels may not have a dual disc capable hub on the front rim and may need updating.
I hope this helps someone out.

we all know the roadsters are duals. that's the UPGRADE, along with higher suspension that makes it an R. otherwise it world just be an 883 cn/standard. wtf bro? you need to quit... go work at husqvarna, lol. look at my signature, my sporty is listed are a "2007 883/1200'R' (XLCN) backyard mechanic edition"... that's because it's a diy R... but thanks for the "education", Cletus
