nightster 2 up questions
i'm thinking about buying passenger pegs and the passenger pillion (HD 51744-07)
seat attachment to the solo seat. i like the looks of the solo seat but sometimes i have to take the girlfriend for a ride.
just a few questions to nightster owners who regularly ride 2 up and also who owns the passenger pillion.
here's my question. how easy is it to add and remove the passenger seat attachment?
besides adding more air and adjusting the shocks, anything else that you normally do when carrying a passenger?
does riding with the stock shocks and not having a sissy bar work for 2 hour long trips? Do you bottom out on the stock shocks?
Finally, is this safe? cause i think i read on the owners manual that the bike is designed for only one rider. Thanks for your help.

RE: nightster 2 up questions
In my opinion it is easier to buy a real two up seat like a Sidekick and a padded sissy bar with luggage rack for best comfort and gear stowage. (see pic) It takes less than 5 minutes to swap out from solo to dual.
Just my .02 !

Agreed. Buy a full 2-up seat. Changing it out only takes a minute. Luggage racks are nice if you wanna use the bike for long rides....I would say buy some fringed saddlebags first...then if you need more room for crap...get a luggage rack and roll bag.
If the girlfriend complains about feeling like shes gonna fall off...then get a sissy bar.

I would def get her a sissy bar if you are planning on taking a 2 hourlong trip. She will be complaining that her back hurts from being hunched over holding on to you. And you will prolly be more comfy too without her leaning on your back so that she doesn't feel like she is going to fall off.

RE: nightster 2 up questions
i tried this but the two up seat looks like it will scratch the fender at the bolting area. i tried to move the washer system from the solo seat but it looks like it wouldn't work on the other hole for the passenger seat on the nightster. i think it is fine on the other sportster fenders. i'm assuming the passenger pillion will have a system to prevent the fender from scratching. what do you do so the two up seat attachment doesn't scratch the fender at the place where you bolt it?

RE: nightster 2 up questions
DONT!!!! I am getting mynightster back from the painters tomorrow! I had the pillion and it chipped the paint down to the metal. I went ahead and purchased the sundowner seat to ride with the wife. I talked to the guy at the stealership and he recommended getting the bottom covered with felt to cover the possible scratching. It is an easier change than the pillion. As for the nut and washer, a set comes with the pillion, and is only a $4.00 item at the stealership. Your call. Just make sure that you cover the bottom nut heads that are exposed.
