I just bought myself my first bike, Sprtster 883XL, arrives in May. I am thinking about changing to drag bars or Street Slammers, really like the look of the bikes with them on,but am worried about comfort. Anybody riding with this set up find it uncomfotable?
The first picture is of my set up now. They are 14" Burly Brand Narrow Glide apes. The second picture is my old drag bar set up. I like the look of the drag bars a little better, but it is no where near as comfortable as my new ape set up!

Joe--what kind of drag bars did you use? Did you feel overstretched with the fwd controls?

I used the bars off the late but great Nightrain. They are 27" wide with 4 or 5 inches off pull back. I was definitely over-stretched with the low bars and the forward controls. If I hadn't switched to the apes I would have put the mid controls back on for sure. I went on some very long rides with them on the bike as everyone I ride with rides a touring model. After about 2 hours I would have severe pain in my back and neck from being so far stretched out. It just wasn't a good cruising position. But it was fun to blast on from stop light to stop light, but like I said most of the riding I do is long cruises. I am 5'8" with a 30 inch inseam with a decently broad back so I would have to reach down out and towards my center line to hold the bars, which is not ergonomical at all.
