I just bought a set of throwover bags for my custom from River Road. They arent the biggest but they will work for an overnight trip. I modified them a bit by supergluing a 4" x 10" strip of black foam rubber on the backside to keep them from scuffing up any paint or chrome surface.

Also, they do zip off.

RE: These don't look too bad...
You know if you put a couple hundred miles a week on a bike you NEED bags, its just all there is to it. If you dont have them you are severly limited to needing to drive your cage, like to the store or the auto parts or to the BIKE shop. you name it, you cant even bring your doggie bag home from the steakhouse without bags... You will not ride as much if you dont have bags, that a FACT.
I like these bags, I like ones that are not slanted better, but these blend so well they are barely seen.I also likethe placement, its where i run mine also. It has the look of equestrian bags under the saddle. Real road worthylooking to me, Good job.

For saddlebags, anyway. I bought them at the Nashville Bike Show for $69.00 from D&L House of Leather (www.houseofleather.com).
They are small (10" deep, 12"across at the bottom) but large enough to easily swallow my heaviest leather jacket. The cool thing about them is they ride Forward of the shocks and fit quite nicely, they don't stick out like a sore thumb. The front of the bag sits right above the passenger foot peg. There is 1" of clearance between the bottom of the bag and exhaust pipes, I assume that's enough to prevent burn through? Also, I'm probably being paranoid, but I've hardly seen any other bikes with their bags riding this far forward, is there a good reason why? Thanks.

I run my bags forward and you dont touch them, the passenger is a diff story, I had to extend the pegs 2 1/2 inchs so she could foot the pegs well when the bags were loaded. Now that its extended she has no troubles either. They look a lot better forward to me.

Is it uncomfortable riding with your bags that far forward? I never seen any bike with the bags that far in front.
