Yep, the entry level Harley is a Blast. It is a not only a good bike, but a fantastic bargain on the used market. The Sportster is a standard. Standard means just what it says--it's the standard by which all bikes are judged. It hurts a lot of egos when experts rate the Sportster above Harley models that cost double or triple as much.It warms my heart when someonepokes fun at a Sporty. Ienjoy that look in theireyes.
i really like the blast.
if i could've gotten a used one when i was looking for my first bike i probably would've bought it. i sat on a new one and it was really comfortable and light...would've been fun as hell to tear around on.

We COULDstart referring to big bikes as "Old Geezer" bikes...as in: Nice "old geezer" bike, man!

Hee-hee.

If you gotta persuade ME your big bike is "better" than my Sportie, I suspectyou ain't happy with it. Perhaps you bought it forshow and notbecause it fits you.Ride what floats your boat andfuggedaboutit.

For ME, the 1200 Sportie Low is a better bike. It's what I want, it's what I like! It fits me.

I ride for the same reason I fish, hunt, hike, or go camping...because it's FUN! I couldn't care less about "impressing" anyone...

Why does everyone get so mad when the sportster is referred as a "entry-level" bike?? I rode sportbikes for 11 years before I decided to try something else. I sold my CBR1000RR in the fall and I was going to buy a Night Train in the early spring. Over the winter things came up and I couldn't afford the Night Train so I opted for the Street Bob, payment was better but still a little tight for my situation so I went for the Sportster Nightster. It was even cheaper then my last Honda! It got me into a Harley to experience something different like I wanted to do and I don't regret it at all. The Sportster is a great bike, I'm having a lot of fun with it and it really doesn't bother me when people refer to it as a "little bike" "girls bike" or"entry-level bike"To be honest if it wasn't for the Nightster I probably would have bought another sportbike, never liked sporster but after owning one I have a whole new respect for them.Get over it people, it is what it is.

Who cares!!! Sheesh!

IMHO the Sporty folks need to stop defending their bikes and everyone else needs to stop trying to prove that they are an "entry level" bike.

It's just going in circles and will never end.

Like everyone else I ride a Sportster by choice. I have had big bikes including an Electra Glide but with the several dozen bikes I've owned I prefer the sportster. FWIW I have been riding 40 years

"First thing.......I love my Sporster....BUT
Lets face it. It is an entry level bike." quote mandog

Now that is a condesending remark. What did that add to the forum? There plenty of places to find people with that attitude. Not many on this section of HDForums though. Give us a break will ya'?

I've heard alot of shorter people say that Sporsters are too high. If you are new to riding it would be too high because they are harder to balance because of the center of gravity. To me a starter bike is a:
250cc
600cc
I guess in the terms of a starter bike for owning a Harley but not to start riding on.
