I wouldn't call any Harley and entry level bike, to expensive and too much money and love goes into them for them to be considered an entry level bike.

I will say this however I fully believe there are folks on this site that could use and entry level forums.

Just answer this simple question. What is the entry level Harley if not a Sportser?

the buell blast.

that's why they're used in the rider training programs.

Can't answer that question for everyone .... my 1st Harley (and current Harley) is a Fatboy. This is MY idea of an 'entry level' Harley. Some may agree ... some may not.

After this I am done....Serious denial going on in here....

The [/b]Washington[/b] Times[/b] - Sportster 883 XLH provides an eye-catching, entry-level Harley

The New York Times[/b] - The 2007 Nightster, a back-to-basics road bike, is pitched as something of a rowdy sibling to the Sportster, the entry-level Harley

The Auto Channal[/b] - Basically it looks great, further complementing the Sportster's attractive look as an entry level Harley

Motorcycle Cruiser[/b] - Read this Budget V-Twin motorcycles comparison for the Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster Custom, ... rare in the economy-minded world of entry-level cruisers

Motorcycle Daily- Harley-Davidson's Sportster has long been one of their best-selling models, and for 2007 H-D decided to spice-up their entry-level model line with the ...

If you think a Sportster is entry level, then you don't know your history of the Sportster.

ahhh.

well, the press is always SPOT-ON about everything.

i'm not sensitive about my sportster...far from it.

i just generally like to correct people when they don't know what they are talking about.

a camaro is cheaper than a suburban, so i guess it's an entry level chevy.

right.

So when people say "He just bought a sportster so he could say he owned a harley and could not afford anything else."
Hmmm...presently I own two Sportsters. There are lots of usedSoftails out there for less than a brand new Sportster withthe same accessories (windshield, saddlebags, touring seat, sissybar) so that don't make sense.

Had a Heritage SoftailClassic once;Inow own a Sportster. And if I ever get another HS Classic, I will be KEEPING the Sportster!

Overall, I prefer the Sportster. I prefer fast, light, nimble, simple andinexpensive to not so fast, heavy,bulky,hi-maintenance andexpensive.

Sporties are lots more fun on the twisties. Easier to evade the sleeping cager, too. And the general scuttlebutt is they're quite a bit more reliable.

To me, thebigger bikes aredefinitely better for riding long trips with a passenger.

Yep, the entry level Harley is a Blast. It is a not only a good bike, but a fantastic bargain on the used market. The Sportster is a standard. Standard means just what it says--it's the standard by which all bikes are judged. It hurts a lot of egos when experts rate the Sportster above Harley models that cost double or triple as much.It warms my heart when someonepokes fun at a Sporty. Ienjoy that look in theireyes.
