Oh, as far as the carb, My nephew had a new carb he had bought for his now stolen Dyna.....We installed that after swapping jets and had same results......We left new carb installed, so guy gets his bike repaired for 42 bucks including new carb.....Not a bad deal, huh?

Well, Gents....I tried all your suggestions....turned out it was the VOES switch afterall.

42 bucks for new switch and she runs perfect.............He will be pleased when he picks her up this weekend.

Thanks for all your suggestions!
I am the all-knowing Swami.

Do not doubt me or you will suffer my WRATH!

Hehe....glad it worked out! Now get the damn thing out and RIDE IT!

Yep Swami, the key clue was the backfiring while trying to start after shutdown........that backfiring was due to ign timing being altered by faulty VOES.

I wanted bad to ride today....it was 70 and sunny....I called in 'sick' and got his bike repaired then called all my buddies seeking riding partners....all of them had to work or were tied up with drama.....so I sucked beer and tinkered on my scoots.....

I got a 3 day weekend this week and the forecast sez PERFECT, so I'll be out there!

i wore myself out the past couple days...I'm scotch-briting all my chrome...and since it's so nice out...I'm doing it between rides. I've probably put a good 120 miles on my bike in the past two or three days! Can't help it...the weather's too damn perfect here.

sounds like the bike is running out of fuel after a little.

i turn my petcock off and run my carb dry, and when it reaches the end it backfires and dies as well, the last revolution runs lean becuase of the little amount of fuel left.

check all your hoses, hose connections, broken or missing hoses, float bowl, and gas tank petcock, drain the tank and clean it out while you can to prevent it.

it REALLY sounds like a fuel problem to me.

I would've sworn that it was a fuel problem. Glad I continued reading the string. Good call 6066.
