I know this has been posted before and the dead horse has been beating into a pile of greasy fur.

I was at the stealership today getting oil and oil filter then decided to brows the bikes. I was at the sportster nightster section when a guy comes up to a black and orange nightster and says to his buddy "hey look at this little scooter". I looked at the gubber and said thats the same nightster I have its a 1200cc and does 80+ mph easly. The two just luaghed and walked off without say a word. I was like WTF and shook my head. Only fools who don't know the true harley haritage looks down on sportsters.

 

Don't take it personal,they are all scooters. just a term.

 

If you told me that my nightster would do 80+ easily, I'd laugh at you to! It will do 80+ in 3rd gear!LOL

 

I'm the guy who you overheard saying that. If you got a problem with it meet me by the bike racks at 3 o'clock[:@]

People are funny sometimes. I was in a supermarket line a few months ago and the guy in front of me was obviously a new rider that had a sportbike. He was wearing a 'Joe Rocket' jacket, road racing boots, a leather pants. When I asked him "what kind of scooter do you have?", he curtly informed me "IT's A BIKE!".

I've found that some, not all but some, newbies take motorcycle riding too seriously. I don't mean to demean anyone, but riding a motorcycle is not that difficult and doesn't make anybody special.

I hate the term scooter.... I had a real scooter way back when.... (my first bike)

These are not scooters... trust me...

But I hear that term at least five times a day... guess it goes with the territory these days...

If you get pi$$ed because someone calls a motorcycle a scooter what happens when you hear someone call a motorcycle a "bike"??????????? I have to say I would have laughed too!!
