There is nothing 'disrespectful' about calling a "motorcycle" a scooter. Calling the Nightster a 'nice little scooter' shouldn't put anyone in a defensive mode.

I haven't called a Harley a "motorcycle" in years, and come to think about it, most of the crew I hang around with are the same.

Just about everyone I know calls a Harley (or any other make for that matter) a "bike"... Called them bikes in the 70's, the 80's, the 90's, and still do the same today.

Seems like way too many people that buy Harley's are so sensitive, and it appearsa large percentageof these overly sensitive people are newer owners that have purchased a Sportster. (At least the Sportster Forum is where threads with the same content are posted over and over and over, almost on a daily basis)...

Idon't understand how anyone could enjoy their 'ride', or 'scooter', or 'bike' or whatever you want to call it when they spend so much time being defensive about what they ride, or pouting because of whatsomeone might say.

Grow up folks (either that or just sell your 'bike' before you become overloaded with stress due to comments from others)..

Persoanlly I am not that insecure, and don't need validation from everyone else. So I don't care what they call my 2 wheeled, motorizedriding apperatus.

Why does it bother everyone else so much??????

I haven't been in this forum very long, but jeez, I'm about sick to death of hearing people cry about what others call their Sportsters. I always thought bikers had tougher skin. Maybe it's just the RUBS complaining???

I have a scooter...it's a 2005 Genuine Stella....jet black....with just a couple chromey bits here like a rack on the back.....every time I ride it up to the Harley shop here to get oil or something, when I come back out it never fails....there's at least 4-5 people standing around it checking it out....and then I get bombed with questions..."How old is it? How fast is it? Where did you get it?" lol I've yet to have anyone disrespect my Stella.

Scooter was a term I heard and used back in the 60's and 70's, not a big deal really, spot on, Old Fender Guy...
