Warming up an 883 Custom

RE: Warming up an 883 Custom
My 06 883 was very similar with the stock pipes, air cleaner, and carb. Once I did the stage one, the warm up times are much shorter. It of couse depends on the temps. She still needs a good bit of warmup when it's 20 degrees outside, but not so much when 40 or warmer. I use full choke until I start to hear the "popcorn" sound. Then, go to half choke, which will get me to the "potato, potatoe, potato" sound. Ride for a half a mile or mile (depending again on the ambient temp) and then close the "choke".

RE: Warming up an 883 Custom
I can't get over all the talk about "warming up" the bike before riding. I warm my bike up just as much as I warm up my car. I start it and ride off. My bike is an 05 1200 C so it is carbed but I have no need to set there and let it run. Once I'm underway I can have the choke all the way in within 1/2 mile.

I only choke/enrich to start the bike.
As soon as it is running that enricher **** is pushed back in.
Even if I have to sit on the bike for a while and only use the throttle to keep it going.
Sooner or later it is stable.
I would say ? 3 minutes tops before I can just let it alone.
