I don't like the looks and, they can dent the tank. Mine has a small ding in it from them left over from the previous owner.
They're gone now, replaced with turn signal mirrors. Looks much cleaner IMHO. Which reminds me, I need to get that sig pic fixed.

Ya know back in the old days... When you bought a Harley the bike was sold just as a bike and if you wanted turn signals you would have to buy them as an add-on option... and they were attached to the handlebars with a clamp.. Old school look ya might say.. Anyway, I have often though of relocating my signals to the forks mainly because the throttle cable rubs the back of the right signal... and sometimes just the vibs of the handlebars cause them to loosen up..
Many times I've seen handlebar lights not in proper straight alignment... Reason enough to fix them on the forks I suppose.. a lessor chance of bumping them loose.. Thats the practical reason.. Cosmetics would be the other reason... I like them mounted on the handlebars myself.

I think it cleans up the bars. Many of us run internal wiring for the handlebar controls.
I took it a step further though by changing the signals to the mini bullets and moving them to the forks. Also FYI IMO the stock signals on the '96 ane HUGE and bulky. I guess I just hated them wherever they were mounted on the bike.
