What is the normal gas mileage in local type traffic to be expected on a 1200C Sportster. I have a new one with only 600 miles on the bike so far, but am getting only around 30mpg. Is this normal or should I take it in before the 1000mile check-up?

 

I have gotten as much as 55 MPG and as little as 37MPG with my '96.Various conditions Including 2-up riding contributed to the low #'s. Also a huge factor in Mileage is howhard and how often you twist the right grip.

 

My 05 1200C gets 45MPG like clock work and I would guess alot better on the highway.

 

When I first got my bike, I would only get between 30 to 40 mpg in the city. It got better, but I think its cause I toned down on the hauling *** from stop to stop. On the highway I get as much as 50 to 60.

 

My 05 1200 C averages between 50 and 55 regularly. That includes mostly rural riding.

 

45 + in traffic I've gotten 60 hwy 55mph cruising. Stage 1 Roadster

 

One time last year cruising at 60 mph with about 5 stops for 108 miles I got 62.1 mpg. But most of the time, I'm about the same as 'Road Head'.
This was on my 2000 1200-C with stage-1. I now have a 06 1200-C with stage-1, but wont know until spring what it will do...

 

50-55 depending on riding conditions with a 06 1200 carb w stage one, dyno tuned. 30 seems really low to me, even the BT's average 35-45.

 

I get about 45 to 48 in town (unless of course I really get on the throttle ), between 50 and 60 on the highway.

 

I agree, 50+ on highways. But if you do a WOT run from stop light to stop light it will really use gas very fast.
