Adding an oil filter

Adding an oil filter
Looking at adding a filter to my ironhead & was curious if anyone else had done it. I layed out a 3/8" thick piece of aluminum for the left lower motor mount, figured I would fab my own. I assume the return line to the oil tank is supposed to go to the filter and then to the return on the tank, correct? Anyone know the common oil filter the kits use? I really want to keep a chrome one on it. Thanks for any help

last item on the page, an inline filter. It would suck to replace it though, 50 bucks a pop. but im sure there are other brands, I just googled "inline oil filter" and this is the first page I clicked.
you could filter the oil through a screen while you pour it into the tank, and then keep an inline like this. might take a few changes to get any crud that is in your engine out.

RE: Adding an oil filter
I am assuming that you know that your bike takes an oil filter in the oil tank. If not, the stock filter was held in a canister. It was called "horse hair" even thought it wasn't horse hair. It was just a fiber and really not all that great. You can get pretty good replacement elements to fit the canister for about 2 bucks each from Jireh Cycles. That is what I use. Or, you can get a complete unit from ProForm that replaces the whole metal canister set up.
