Default Headlamp trim ring for 06-1200C

Bought a trim ring for my 06-1200C HD part #69624-99a multi fit says it fits my bike. What a pain in the a$%@ figured it be a 15min job been playing with it for better then two hrs. Had to stop wasn't fun any more. Can't get the mountting ring on.won't stay on tried all different ways.Plus screw that holds *** togeather touches the trim ring. Id have to hold the bottom of the trim ring out to push the screw deep in the hole on the trim ring to get the treadsto catch.Taiwanpeace of s@#& Im going bring it back to the dealer for credit if they don't at least do that for me they lost me as a custmer for $29.95. If any one can tell me if im doing some thing wrong please help. I got it to go on with out the mounting ring but I think Glass lens assembly will rattle all so theres the problem with the screw. Thanks for any advice.

Put the stock one back on in 5mins. Taking this out of spec. Taiwan peace of junk back hope they do he right thing and at least give me a store credit. Its not the money hate when I buy things and they don't do what they are suppose to do fit and work takes the fun out of it.

Damn guy, you should have sent out a APB to the forum.....

I think I have an extra trim ring laying around, and I would have sent it to you for just the cost of postage.

That's interesting. I bought one for my 05 1200 C (same package) and it went on with no effort at all.

I had a problem just like that... My local hd dealer sold me the wrong one. I couldn't get it on, and kept trying and trying. got on the computer and figured out they gave me the wrong part number. they replaced it for no cost, the right one took me less than 5 minutes to put on. only the custom has a screw that goes in towards the bike, the rest of the sportsters have a ring that more or less is like a clamp... Good luck with this, but i expect you have the wrong one.

This one was listed in the HD accessories catalog for 96-latter xl1200CIf it worked it would of given it that frenched look. Looked good on the bike with out the Bulb and glass lens thats only way it would go on. lol Hate when s@#T don't work as intended. I could of got it to fit with drill and grinder plusEpoxy I don't work that way. Ain't cutting s#*t up for a look. Taiwan HD junk. My guess made for fits all Jap bikes. They use metricin Tiawan thats why it don't fit.

I know thats why I baught it. Would not go on with mounting ring. Also screw head would not clear trim ring had to put screw all way in hole in tab on trim ring to catch treds on light housing.I'm all most certain the one I got is defective. If I bend the tab drill the hole bigger the screw head will clear. But then there is the problem with mounting ring. The stock trim ring has two cut outs one at 10:00 and another at 2:00. The new frenched one does not have the cut outs in the rim. I tried for two hours could not get it on with mounting ring. Gave up put stock one back on in 5mins. Real let down when s#$% don't fit as intended.
