Got Pulled Over Today, Because Of A Sportster..
Earlier today a friend of mine from a little town across the Missouri border stopped by... (Missouri border is only 6 miles from where I am)...
He has a real nice 1200C, and wanted to ride a bit, as for the first time in weeks it was above freezing (actually hit 52 today, and suppose to be even warmer for the next few days)..
I jumped on the FatBoy, we headed down the road, and after a bit we decided to run over to his house and get something to eat.
Shortly after we rode by a county deputy, and here he came, and I thought "just my luck" as I wasn't wearing a helmet, which is required in Missouri... Being so close to the border normally they just give out of state riders a verbal warning, but even though we don't have a "point system" they can fine you up to $25.
Come to find out the deputy had just purchased a used Sportster, and he was just interested in the type of pipes my friend was running, as he was looking for aftermarket pipes himself... He was a nice guy and was really interested in Sportster related stuff. Only attention my Softail got was a "nice bike".. [:@]
We yacked for a bit, he thanked us for the information, and away he went.
Didn't check any of our documentation, didn't say a word to me for not having a helmet, nothing.. LoL.... Too bad all 'stops' aren't like that.

I've found that99% ofcops are good guys if you treat them with respect and aren't out to cause any trouble, I have had a few pull up beside me at lights and check outthe machine, I was a bit nervous the first couple times after I got the SEII's but they usually give me the nod or thumbs up and are on their way, there is always the exception to the rule though.

RE: Got Pulled Over Today, Because Of A Sportster..
Sounds like the day my old man was riding my Sportster and decided to do a wheelie and the local cop saw him do itand pulled him over...He started just asking questions about it. stuff like is that a Sportster? What size, stuff like that..did tell John not to do wheelies but was cool and was just genuinly interested in the bike...he did make a comment about the color as it was still pink at the time...most of the local cops hre are cool...
