I didn't think the title of this post was, "Do wrapped pipes look good or bad?" and not to sound like an ***, but next time ask yourself if your post helps out the original poster or not

Thanks

This is one of those "if you can't say anything nice..." situations. Fortunately, I never learned that lesson.

Sorry, but tape just makes bikes look like trash, low-rent, crappy band-aided junkers.

I guess some of us don't like pretty,shiney,catalouge chrome accesorised motorcycles

It's probably a "to each his own" kinda thing..................ya know

I like all bikes......even the pretty ones
Ok, not sure why you think anything I said has anything to do with bolt-on catalog chrome or "pretty", but ok.
Well..........your statement sorta implies you're that type of guy.If a little header wrap seemsTRASHY and LOW RENT(whatever that is supposed to mean)to you, I can onlyimagine thatyou're idea of agood looking bikewould beon the opposite side of the spectrum(shiny and pretty,as opposed to trashy)...which is fine with me.Like I said ...I like 'em all.What I saidwas an exaggeration,similar to yours.
I'd love to see your reaction to the bikes I ride and ride with.
You would find them truly appalling....................and loud too

Here's one of mine..............no wrap

To each his own. And that is why we each want our own unique mods. I think the grey wrap on the Nightster looks great halfway down those insomniacs! This from a guy who has a custom that is nothing but a whole bunch of chrome.(and lots of it)! Go for it.

To bring this topic, back from the past, Elivis, where did you get your black tape at?

The hot rod idea behind heat wrap is to keep the exhaust gases from cooling meaning that they expel themselves quicker.
&nbsp\\;
When and if you decide to wrap your pipes I would suggest a couple of things.
&nbsp\\;
Soak the wrap first.&nbsp\\; It keeps down on the fibers and allows the tape to stretch a little did.&nbsp\\; When it dries the wrap will tighten up a little for a good fit.&nbsp\\; Note - it will not tighten up enough to make up for a bad/loose wrap job.
&nbsp\\;
Wrap it as tight as you can and this job is easier with two people.
&nbsp\\;
When you do it wear long sleeves and gloves.
&nbsp\\;
P.S. - There nothing wrong with a Nighty.

I'm considering putting heat tape on my exhaust..I like the look moreso than the chrome. Have any of you done this and are there issues with the o2 sensors and the extra heat??? any suggestions?? Thanks!

I used Thermotec 2" and Thermotec High heat paint to seal the wrap on mine which I got from my local NAPA. You can also get it direct if you can't find it locally. www.thermotec.com
