1964 sportster xlch question
Hi all, we just joined the forum a few minutes ago. I have been researching online to try and answer my question and came across this lovely website.
My fiance has a 1964 Sportster xlch that we are looking to sell. We have had a hard time finding a good price to ask for. Can anybody help us out?

RE: 1964 sportster xlch question
These are just my opinion, and I haven't been shopping iron head sportsters much lately (THANK GOD!).
Depends entirely on condition. Like New, dunno, maybe three thousand, but that's pushing it. Basket case, maybe 1 thousand, maybe less, depending on how bad. "Ran When Parked," well, somewhere inbetween.
eBay the thing and you'll get about what it's worth.

RE: 1964 sportster xlch question
I look at a lot of old bikes. To me the engine typesall sell around the same amount give or take some for condition/model/year.
Shovels-7-10K
Pans-14K-20K
Knuckles-Priceless(saw one sell on ebay for $50K)
Ironheads:
They seem to always be a good bit less then the shovels. For a 64, which is very old I think it could get a good premium so I might think $5,000-$7,000.
However, People always try to sell the "garage queens" that have been sitting forever and they want to much for a bike that needs reconditioned. If the bike is rideable, starts easy, leaks are managable, and all rubber is good I think you can command a much higher price.
