So where in Iowa? I went out there (Waukon)last Feb. to get my Harleys and it was a white out the whole way there and back[8D]

A little off topic, but I was curious about something in Iowa. I was running I80 towards Omaha NE a couple of years ago and noticed the strangest thing. Mid-Grade gasoline was a couple cents cheaper than regular unleaded. It wasn't just one station either. Why is that?

i also live in iowa and im not a fan of the weather as well but i have to deal with it being that my job(welder - build ethanol plants)have to work out side 5 days a week for 10 hours. for some reason while im at work it dosnt bother me too much. but when i want to work i my bike i just say screw it,its to cold

The iowa legislature for many many years had been promoting Gasohol production and usage. They reduce taxation on that 'mid-grade' fuel, and the savings are mandated to be passed along to the public. I use it in everything but my Harley, unless I have no choice. In some rural areas, you can't buy pure PREMIUM, so you have to do the best you can. Usually, though, all three are available.
