Default lowering 1200c

i am getting 412 progressive rear springs and progressive fork springs for a 06 1200 custom.
i want to go 1" lower than standard on both but the dealer said he thinks this will make the ride to harsh as it will bottom out all of the
time.
i weigh 136 pounds and will occasionaly be two up with the minister for war and she is about 110 pounds
(and not bad if i say so myself)

dose anyone have this setup and do you have any problems with it or do any of you think this will be a issue
as the dealer thinks

I have a friend with a lowered Sporty. He's got the Progressive shocks and fork springs. I thought I broke my back when I hit a bump riding the thing. And it handles terrible. I wouldn't do it.

I have the setup you're describing - and keep in mind results may vary based on riding style, payload and pothole density - hah! - (hence maybe MuddyXL's "experience").

With the 412s in back (11") and Progressive springs up front, I do have a better ride than stock and go 2-up most of the time. I go about 165 lbs and my girl is about 130 lbs. And we have no problem keeping up even in the twisties (and we're talkin' while bein' on rides with other Sportys and goin' at it, although every rare once in a while I'll drag the Jiffy stand).

Overall ride height was reduced about 1-1/4" and I've only bottomed the rears a couple of times (and actually less harshly than the stockers for sure, which also bottomed more frequently) - my setup is also only on the 2nd preload most all the time.

Been ridin' 31+ years - and love what I have now.

Good luck!
