I did it on my 97. Make sure you line it up. I had to use and offset front sprocket and i used a .250 Spacer on the rear. ought a Diamond O-Ring Chain. Had to convert it to run the 150 Tire, I think it looks pretty good.

 

same here.................bought a complete kit from them......front and rear sprockets front spacer and new rubber gasket....and a RK chain............went to a 150 tire..........used a laser from a temp. gun.................... . .all gravy................................... . . ...................

 

Chains are much better than they used to be. Spend the money and get a good "X" ring chain and then don't mess with it util you have to.

My last D.I.D. chain lasted me over 30K miles. Yes I drive civilized, but cleaning and "oiling" only clean the lube out fromthe x-rings. Then it won't sling oil all over either. Just wipe off the side plates when they get dirty.

Just ordered my next set (sprockets too) for about a $150. For my Rice Burner (wish IT had a belt).

 

advantage to chain: old school look, service with basic hand tools, least amount of power loss.
advantage to belt: less matinence, cleaner, long life.
advantage to shaft: longest life, no matinence.

matinence: most-chain, mid-belt, least-shaft.
power loss: most-shaft, mid-belt, least-chain.

The belt seems to be the best mix for matinence vs power loss if looks don't count.
