I remember conversations a while back about people's pant legs catching fire, etc. Well, today I got a recall notice that is t fix that problem. I'ts for 2007 XL883, 883KL, 883R, 1200R, XL50, 1200L and 1200N. Also for 2006 1200R, 1200L.

So if you don't get a recall notice soon, contact your dealer! I traded my 2007 883L for a 2008 1200N, and apparently it doesn't have the problem talked about. But figured' I'd pass it on!

 

A 2008 model should have had the inner heat shields installed... the recall for this was issued early summer 2007.

Yes, just got this recall for my 07 1200R also. Apparently, the original "burning pants" recall has been expanded.

i had 2 recalls on my sporty one was for the heat shields and i cant remember the other, soon i as i know it i will post

 

Hummm...wonder why youwere never notified the first time around? That recall is old. I got mine fixed last summer.

 

What do they do? I got the recall today, but I swear, I just don't see a gap between my sheilds big enough to get my pant leg in there to char. I've had mine over a year and haven't had a problem.

If you ride with your feet in close like my wife does, and wear pants that are loose in the calf, like boot cut. they can flap around to the under side of the original shield and lay right on the pipe. Damndest thing i've seen. Big ol hole with smoke and red embers!! Wow!! Wife is 5', tried to ride with her feet out on the pegs more but wasn't comfortable.
