Cables

RE: Cables
You never mentioned how tall your risers were but with 14" apes I would ballpark +10" on cables. The most effective way to get it right the first time is like most of us have done...put the bars on, meausre using tubing, string or cord along the route you want to the cables to take then order them. I'm running mini-apes (8-10" grip end rise) on 3" striahgt risers and am running about +6" cables. Dont forget tha you'll have to solder in wire ext. or use an ext. kit, then again the 2001 might have enough extra stashed under the tank.
Good luck,

RE: Cables
Cable length can sometimes be tricky in determining the right length... very much like buying windshield wipers for your car.
Anyway, seems like who ever you talk to regarding length will have different ways of measuring cable lengths.. EG. I needed to replace my throttle and idle cables on a bike and Harley parts mgr.. said he had the ones I needed with the bike configuration, handlebars etc.. Just so happened his way of measuring was the cable housing "less the alum throttle shaft 45*"... and said the +6 etc was for the wire only to include all metal shafts .. Cables were not long enough to say the least.
Went through several cable lengths before finding the right stuff, therefore all I'm saying is to measure the the from the carb to the throttle with a flex tape routing it through the forks etc. then have the dealership provide... Just don't leave it up to the dealership .... They will get it wrong everytime!
