I bought that same wrench in Pierre, S.D. for this:
behind the motel. Worked fine. You can use your beam ft-lbs wrench. Jut multiply the reading by 12 to get inch lbs. I.E., 10 ft lbs = 120 inch lbs. I'll leave the dimensional analysis as an exercise for the reader.

I have one, it works fine. On the back side of the wrench shaft is a inch #'s scale numbered 25, 40, 55, 70, etc. (15 # increments). On the wrench collar is the numbers 0 - 14. Turning the handle until the number 0 on the collar lines up with the number 25 on the shaft = 25 in. lbs. If you continue to turn the handle until the number on the collar is 0 again you will see that it lines up with the 40 on the shaft, thus 40 in lbs, etc.

It's a pretty good wrench. I'm a little mystified as to why you can set the ratchet mechanism to loosen a fastener. (You should never loosen a fastener with a torque wrench, only tighten it.)
