Default any of you guys ever seen this?

On my 02 1200low I was riding home this evening from work and I got about 3 blocks from my house and stopped at a red light and I looked down and there were two lights on in my speedo...one was the yellow one (check engine light?) that comes on and then goes off when you first hit the run button to let you know you can hit start....and the other was a red "battery" light....I've never seen that one on before so I was kinda surprised, to say the least. It went off after I turned the corner and went up the road....then it came back on again when I stopped to turn onto my street. It went off again as I went down to my driveway and came on again after I stopped in the garage. I turned off my bike and restarted it a couple of times and it did it two more times then quit doing it.....it didn't sound any different, or run any different, or start any different.....I dunno, it was very strange. Battery going bad maybe??

It could be the battery but my first suspicion is the charging circuit, stator or regulator. Measure from the positive battery terminal to ground with the engine running at about 2000 rpm. You should see between 13.5 - 14.8 VDC if the charging circuit is working properly.

My bike did that exact same thing about8 months ago. The codes indicated low voltage. I checked every connection. Checked the battery, volt regulator, all both running and shut down with my Fluke meter. Everything checked out perfect.

I cleared the codes, and haven't had a problem with it since. That was about 12,000 miles ago.

I chalked it off to "Gremlins".

Sounds like a regulator, have you retrieved the codes?

no, I've not pulled anything apart.....I'm still under warranty, so I'm gonna roll over to the dealership in the morning and have them look at it. My luck lately, I'd break something. lol But I was figuring that something was loose battery wise, thanks guys that comfirms my suspicions... =-)

Check the battery connections first. Corrosion and vibration can result in that off and on symptom.

When a dealer sets up a new bike... They sometimes get a little laxed while just going through the motions.. On many many occassions I have found loose battery connections among other bolts and fasteners..Check the battery connections!

Most importantly, don't drive it until it is fixed. It could be more than just a battery issue.

I'm gonna check the battery connections first, then see if it's still doing it. But I've got to ride it some, to get it to the shop....then I'll let them look.

Thanks all
