Default Stupid question

I have my tank off the bike at the moment to be resprayed while I add a few bits,

Whilst putting on the new oil cover today I needed to remove the battery. Once it was all put back together again, except for the tank, I tested all the lights, etc to make sure they worked as I accidently hit the frame with a wrench whilst tightening the positive, causing a little sparkage. I have noticed that the bike will not attempt to kick over now, although all lights are working perfextly. Is this simply because I have the tank off and therefore there is not a drop of gas to fire her up, not so much as a spark....??

When I put in new switches on the bars the other day, the engine seemed like it attempted to fire up when I tried, although the tank was not connected then either.

Could I have burnt something out when the wrench earthed out while refitting the battery. ??

The horn, lights and accessories are all in order, its just the bike wont attempt to kick over when I try...I will be relieved if it is just because the tank has been removed, but I would have thought the starter would have at least attempted to turn..

Thanks for your help guys.

You probably blew a fuse for the ignition. The tank being on or off has nothing to do with it turning over. Look at the fuses. The lights/horn/etc should beon a seperate fuse than the ignition.

If the engine is turning over but not firing you just need gas. If it's not turning over you need to check the starter fuse.

I'm no great wrench but if something sparked I'd check my fuses.

damn I cant find it, removed the ignition module cover, pulled out the whole lot, is the fuse a little orange square-type thing ? I am looking for class/plastic car-type fuses, Im stell learning as I go pulling apart bike bits, does anyone have an even further dumbed down explanation or a pic ?
