I pulled off the ignition switch and it fell out of my hands and sparked against the engine case (on my older bike the switch is between both cylinders on the left side.) and it was sparking for a minute or two, then it stopped, and i grabbed it and tightened back up, prayed that i didnt **** up the electrical, put the bike back together, and the battery was a little warm so i let it cool overnight, and it started and evreything worked fine since.. im glad, but you did probably blow a fuse.

if the tank is off, the starter should still turn, i dont think a sensor exists that stops electricity to the starter if the tank is off the bike. check your fuses (which i am of no help becuase i didnt blow any, and i didnt need to learn where they are to replace them)

thanks guys.

yeah Steve, my battery is not side on, and there is nothing that resembles that configuration of fuses either.... Might have to call the good old RACQ. Dammit.

sonicporno... since your bike is a pre-04 you might wanna look for your fuses under the seat... The Pre-04's don't have sidecovers. They were telling you based on thinking the bike was set up like an 04 or newer.
Check under the seat and you'll find em.

That's the oil tank.... also lists the bike as a 2000 in his sig.

Its actually badged as a 2000 on the Aussie compliance plate, but is in fact a 1999 model. I have the seat off already, gonna go take a look...

I have the triangular module cover on the side to the right of the batery, but yeah my batery is mounted differently

Better change my sig now.

Damn these fuses are hard to find.

Steve, who have you insured your bike with...?

I am having the engine black wrinkled and have to leave it overnight in a bike den of sorts, thinking insurance is on the cards so I dont have to sleep with a cricket bat in the wifey's car hah
