I've heard of people having problems with that cap. I replaced the cap with the one with the temp guage in it and it's never leaked (and definitely never popped open!).

When I had my 05 custom I noticed this a happened to me a few times. I never had it leak any oil out however, there is a supposed to be a gasket around the dipstick that should prevent it from leaking any oil even if it's in the popped up position. I can't imagine that the dipstick would rotate itself to the point it would leak. Could be overfilled as well.

I have an 06 low and never had a problem because the cap sits down into the rim, seat shouldn't be doing that. I did replace mine with the temp gauge model Charley indicated though, it just screws on as he said so you might want to consider it.

I never had that problem but I also installed the Oil temperature guage cap and that is a BEAR AND A HALF to get on and off. My only beef with this one is that the raised part of the cap digs into my leg when I am at a stop.

kk0210- I agree, it should not sit like that. It should sit down in the rim. It seems like the the entire cap should rotate a complete 90 degrees so it sits flush in the rim. I fooled around with it but I can only get it to go in one way.

I've never had a problem like this, in fact the cap is usually pretty hard to get off most of the time. Do you have any photos of the seat/cap? I'm using a Sundowner which has more width than the stock seat and I weigh about the same (180). I don't fill my oil tank to the top, maybe you're overfilling as well.

Trying to upload pic but not working. I don't think it is over filled. Checked it today and it is within the range of the min and max levels. Oil was changed (1000 mile service) right before I bought it.

Haven't had that happen to me. Sounds like you don't have it over filled.
