Hi Perch, take a look at those bags HDK shows above. See the way they would just spoon right into the shocks on a sporty?
I would buy a double set of those in a brown. I have been wanting to redo my seat in brown but I would need matching bags if I go that route.. The bag above is a solo bag, I would want 2 that would hangover exactly where I have the ones mounted in my attached pics above. I have been thinking of going to the leather shop here at the barnyard fleamarket in town and having a custom set
made. Think your husband can do this or would he even be interested in trying? He could make a set for your nighsterto practise on...
Run the idea by him. Not many bags target the sportster riders,he could fill a niche.

a shameless plug here ... my hubby makes leather throw-over bags and is currently running a set of semi-soft leather bags that looked GREAT on my Nightster when we tried them on for size. Here's the link in case you are interested ! ...

They are an auction item, not a buy now. His website is www.cellardwellerleathers.com.

I have some bags for sale in the classifieds that might work. Take a look at the retros - just stuck them on my Dyna for pix and will be taking them tomorrow. Will wrap around the shocks.

Also have some plain jane, but pretty big bags (14"lx13"hx7"w). The right bag has been repaired on the bottom and is solid. Not visible when mounted.

He's down cellar working on a pair of bags now. I'll print out a pic and run it by him.

For me, the regular size bags just dont look right on a nightster, they looked out of place and killed the bobber look of the bike. The Licks Solo Bag looks good but I wanted something cheaper. I put 2 Sissy Bar Bags on mine. They're small, keep the cool look and they're not expensive. Check out Viking Bags. I tied them together with leather straps and hung them under the seat. The bags have 2 eyelets on each side to tie them down to the bike using the same leather strapping. Works for me and is something different.

These don't look too bad but they are small.

Any of these detachable or are the throw overs the easiest way to go. If I buy one of these beasts, I would like to be able to add some bags for the occasional road/camping trip. I suppose a t-bag on a sissy bar would be a good approach too. Anyone use a t-bag on their Nightster?

Lick's actually makes a little smaller version of that HDK, they just came out with the new 04-Newer version of it. Looks good!!
