It was fate... it's all in the numbers...
Two things I realized recently. Well, one was when I purchased this bike. However, it just proves it was my fate to own my Sportster.
1. Fell in love with the bike at Crossroads Harley Davidson, submitted my SSN for a credit check. Sales manager noticed the last four of my social were the store number for that dealership.
2. My other love, my 1987 El Camino's last three digits of the VIN are 883. A sure sign that I was to buy a Sportster.
Fate made me buy my 883 Custom from Crossroads HD. And I couldn't be happier.
Anyone else realize it's fate?

Good thing the last four wern't 0250. You'd be riding a Rebel !!

At least go with the Yamaha Virago 250 V-Twin.....
Not a bad little '250' that is pretty much 'full size', sounds and looks good, and will get you down the highway at 70+ MPH.
But I also don't put much stock in 'fate'..... As was previously mentioned, **** happens, and you just need to go with the flow.

man, it was fate for me to get a sportster. I would probably be on a honda shadow or something right now if it wasn't for a certain day back in 2002.
ya see, back in the early 90's people kept telling me how unreliable harleys were and that hondas were a better choice. well, the shadow looked like a harley and was cheeeep.Though, itdidn't really matter much, since i was NOT allowed to get a bike back then.
fast forward to 2002... My buddy Jay called me and told me that he was about to purchase a new honda shadow. He had all the paper work filled out and the out the door price came to around $6000. He said that he sat there a second and said "screw it!, for that kind of money i can buy a sportster". Well he did. Anda fewdays laterhe came over with his brand new red 883, my jaw was on the floor. It was so beautiful and I had to have one.. Well, i got one, 4 years later. agorgeous black 883L. And when i pick it up out of storage this spring...she'll be a 1200.

Beautiful story man. I had that same thought a few months ago...Why get a Shadow or a Boulevarde or any of the pretenders, when for the same money I can be on the REAL DEAL. Enough Said. Now she watches me sleep and I treat her like the Skeletal Queen she is.
