I cannot say as though I've seen too many comments on lowering the nightster but I would say its not much difference than most the sportsters when it comes to slamming them low. I think 11" shocks is probably the max. I seem to recall someone mentioning that on the new Lowor Nightster that whenthey lowered it more that the way the new ECM is mounted down in a compartment in the rear fender that its suceptible to the tire rubbing the ECM box. Considering you can already scrape thekickstand, pegs and pipesin turnswith a stock hgt. nightster you will more adversely affect the handling by dropping it more.
I've run 11" std. dutyand 11.5" heavyduty and then back to std. dutyshocks on my 1200C and though I'm not a heavy guy (142 lbs.)or really lay it over in the twistys much I got tired of scraping with the 11" and even now I'm probably going up to 12.5" shocks. Progressive 412 shocks are likely the best choice all around as they give the best bang for the buck. Just keep in mind that no matter what length progressives you would choose that if you are about 225+ you'll want the heavy springs, and the shorter they are especially with heavy springs the rougher the ride.
