Im definately displaying my ignorance on this point, but whats "the breather bypass kit" cHarley's referring to? Is this perhaps some system to prevent excessive pressure on the filter?

Questions.....Breather and the big one with is going to keep the carb into the intake????
Questions.....Breather and the big one with is going to keep the carb into the intake????
With the breather kit being what it is, what holds the carb firmly against the intake?
I ALSO THINK the answer is that the mounting plate behind the stack secures to something else, maybe the breather kit, to hold the assembly on and keep the carb against the intake.

The stock air filter has oil breather lines piped from the rocker boxes back into the A/C filter can. This causes an oil vapor mist to collect in the air filter, often dripping out of theA/C can, and getting sucked back into the carb. Be it a carb. or EFI, both are designed to mix and supply air & fuel into the motor not air, fuel & oil. The stock configuration is a result of EPA BS.

Actually I always talk like that. Even my Tattoos are works of prose. [8D]j/k
On a more serious note. Since my earlier post I've seen a photograph showing one of these devices fitted. It surprised me. I've seen some pictures ofair filters where an exposed cone shaped filter faces forwardand assumed these covers were to:
a) offer them a degree of protection
b) act as a scoop suck air into the cone filter.
However, the photograph I saw suggested the stack actually faces out sideways from the bike rather than forwards.
