Default Poor quality paint on Nightster?

Is anyone else having problems with the grey paint on the Nightster? Is it covered under warranty? I'm attaching a picture of my air-cleaner cover.

A few weeks (maybe a month) back Harley issued a Service Bulletin on the Nightster engine paint. I believe it was directed at not using S-100 on the bike. Wash with only soap and water. Discoloration is not covered under warranty if I remember correctly. It won't hurt to ask about it at your dealer. It looks like oil is trying to blow out of your air cleaner. Make surethe oil level in your oil tank isn't too full.

I'de ask also I think its BS that the paint is doing that, is that the only spot?

If it were a washing issur I would think it would be coming off in other areas.

My Nightster's is doing the same thing. I can get it pretty clean but you can still see the stain.

Is it an oil stain? Have you tried any solvents?

That's the first I've seen it on the A/C. Have you checked the air filter for oil?

I've seen alittle of this type thing down around the belt cover. it has always come right off using spectro xl-100 bike wash. Also rinse well.

Someone else in this thread mentioned that Harley had issued a service bulletin about a month ago warning people not to use S-100 on the engine paint -- only soap and water. It was also mentioned that discoloration isn't covered under warranty.

I haven't checked for oil yet, but I haven't seen this with any other finish either.

The air-cleaner cover isn't the only place it shows up, but it's by far the worst. I wonder if it has something to do with the texture.
