Sportster,what a BLAST
Have been fixing up a 2002 1200 Custom for my wife. Took it out for a little shake down ride last night to see what else needs to be done. What fun that was ! I can't wait till it's finished so I can take it out for a good ride. That has to be fun in the twisties. I ride a lowrider and love it but this sporty is going to be fun. I don't see why people look at them as second class bikes. Just don't know how much she will let me ride it once it's done.

RE: Sportster,what a BLAST
To me a Sporty is what defines a GOOD Harley/good motorcycle
Basic good all rounder with classis styling...that with a few bucks to nudge it in the desired direction(touring, corner carving,commuting)..can do anything REASONABLY well...
Strangely..its the same reason I like Triumph's "Modern Classics" line

RE: Sportster,what a BLAST
Harley don't make a "starter" bike. Anyone who thinks they do is sittin themself up for road rash first time they fork a Sporty and get aggressive with it. Sportys are a full-grip,knee-clampinhandfull for even experienced riders when/if they get brave enuff to really challenge one.
I've got both, and I have the most respect for the Sporty.....No, actually I have the most respect for anyone who can hang on to it when wrung out.....When it comes to baggerstho,I respect most those who can ride one really slow and twisty.

I dont know Kieth..the 883 sportster seems pretty easy to handle..and the power isnt overwhelming....atleast not any more so than most other starter bikes....unless you are THAT hamfisted..and at that point..if you have hand eye coordination problems that severe..I bet it would be fun to watch you eat..lol
