I'm guessing you mean the trim ring? My '96 required a phillips screwdriver.... I haven't seen an '07 but judging that you are trying allen wrenches... It may be a torx?

My '07 custom requires a phillips, but your might be a torx.

Once screw is out, if ring doesn't easily come off, try rotating it as you gently tug....On my '07 custom, once the screw is out I have to rotate it counter-clockwise about 1-2 inches until a notch is exposed in the ring that clears a raised protrusion on headlight housing....reverse to reassemble.

If you are attempting to replace headlight bulb, stop and post first cause there is a trick to removing and replacing those bulbs.

From a previous conversation I had with Hawkmoon, I think its quite likely he is trying to change the bulb for a brighter one, Xenon I think they are called. So any info regarding a trick would probably save him a great deal of time and wasted effort.

Congrats!....Believe it or not, I had just finished changing out bulbs on both bikes when I saw your post. I figured maybe you were doing same and wanted to warn you of a few things.

So I quess I don't need to tell you about the spring clip and the little arrows on the rubber and the reflector housing.

cHarley, the guy is a Brit....Something tells me he could teach us about drinking beer!
