Default Forward Controls

Ok so I have a 2008 Sport Custom and still feel the controls are a bit to far back.
I have seen a thread on here that someone made some brackets to extend the controls but have been
unable to find it.

Anyway I have been sitting here looking at the MFer and the gears have been turning.

If I unbolt both side mounts, move them from left to right and turn them around which would then
face the mounts for the controls forward and bolt them up it should move the pedals about 2"s or
so forward (in theory).

Has anyone tried this ??? or will I have to do it and report the findings back here.

cheers and a Merry Xmas to you all.

It very well may work...buy then you'll have to extend all your linkage. You may also be setting yourself up for failure as I'm sure that you have the factorys that bolt through the bottom of the motor...which means you'll not only have to replace that bolt, but also brace your forwards across the outside of the front of the frame.....I wouldn't trust it.

Option 2......you could just MAKE some brackets that would move everything forward while still maintaining all of the factory mounting locations. That would keep it sturdy and most likely be the cheapest and smartest way to go about it. All ya need then is a cheap grinder, a drill, some hardware from Lowes or Home Depot, and a couple chunks of scrap steel.

Option 3......buy extended controls from Kuryakyn

...Hope this helps. [8D]

If reversing the mounting brackets would work I think you'd be talking about atleast 4" and not 2".

The 2008 mounts bolt to the frame and the spacing of the bolts on both mounts is the same.
Getting longer rods isnt an issue and as for the length 2" or 4" well I will have to see how it goes.
I have a couple of weeks of over xmas so might wait till then and have a play when I have time to
really get into it.

The mounts that were made look a tad cheap, dont get me wrong they are great but I am fussy.

I am also in the process of cutting and shutting rear mounts, std rear custom sportster and some Road King
classic rears to add passenger footboards to the rear to keep my wifes feet of the V & H shorts shots
heat sheilds.
Will do a pic by pic blow of them when I do them.
